I'm a tattoo artist born in South Africa, where I was shown the art of how to tattoo. I remember doing my first paid client when I was in the air force and I tattooed a saint on his ankle. many years later and trying to figure out the art of tattooing, I got a Brazilian tattoo artist(Chico) to teach me the old school way, where I started by cleaning the floors with a tooth brush and was not allowed to ask any questions. he would always say "if you ask me then it's over! I will tell you what you need to know, when I think you need to know".
Sadly he passed away in a bike accident and then I opened INKSANITY TATTOO, my first studio in Johannesburg. Later my family and I moved to the East Coast, where we opened INKSANITY TATTOO again in Uvongo, South Coast Natal. In the late 2008 I closed INKSANITY TATTOO and started doing guest spots at other tattoo studios and meet some really good artist and grew as a tattoo artist.
Because all the politics and safety issues in South Africa. we decided to move to New Zealand in 2009, where I worked at a tattoo studio for just under 3 years . There I was introduced to rotary tattoo machines, at first I wasn't sure on them, and I miss the sound of coil machines. but soon I had fallen in love with rotary machine and started building my own. I mixed the best of both worlds and the new machines will be available in late 2012 for purchase.
And now the new adventure begins...
In 2011, I started my own Tattoo studio in Flatbush, Auckland.
